I'm curious... I  am wondering if anyone here has attempted straw bale gardening? If so did you have good results or?? I just happened upon this topic, and was curious about it.. I think I might attempt at least one with tomato's... Well if all else fails I'll have some fodder for the compost bin...! I'm on a kick to experiment with new styles of gardening... I at least don't think the ever-roaming cats will attempt to go near it... ---->keeping fingers crossed<----

I save popsicle sticks all year, or you can buy some at the craft store, but then, no ice cream! ANYWAY, I stick them in the soil all over and the cats seem to stay out. My cats anyway. They dont bother the plants.

Hey ninjabut,
I got that one on the cat problem I'm having...I have not found any scrap wire yet so I'm thinking about going with popsicle/skewer ideas. Great idea's by the way.... I am a bit of an evil person so I think I am going with the skewers!
Are you going to try straw bale gardening? I just wondered if anyone else out there has tried this?

I have used plastic forks in my house plants. It kept the cat out. Maybe there is some plant that cats dont like? V

Well I don't really have problems with indoor cats, and house plants because I simply don't have cats... or dogs for all that matters.. Don't get me wrong I'm not a hater! I really would adore a cat eating dog at the moment! I've had both when I was a kid growing up. In reality land here I sit...I  just can't afford the extra mouths to feed right now. So for now I really don't think that it would be fair to the animal right now, or me trying to explain to said animal why I don't have the extra $ to feed them at the moment... I do have plans of eventually getting animals, when I can actually afford them in the future. My problem at the moment is an outdoor garden, with what feels like a billion or so cat's at the moment. I am just trying to grow some stuff to supplement my ever shrinking income.  The cats unfortunately are playing havoc on that right now!
